April 2, 2017 : The Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh 2017 -18 Office-bearers conference for the deaneries Bantwal, Mogarnad, Belthangady, Puttur, Kinnigoli and Moodbidri was organised at CODP Hall, Nanthoor, Mangalore on April 1 - 2, 2017. Nearly 100 office bearers from various parish units attended this conference.

The conference was inaugurated at 5pm on April 1. Convener of Central Resource Committee Gerald DCosta extended a warm welcome to all. This was followed by prayer service where Professior of Jeppu Seminary Rev. Fr. Ronald Serrao spiritually enlightened the members. Then followed key note address by Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh president Anil Lobo wherein he highlighted the importance of this conference. Spiritual director Rev. Mathew Vas in his message lauded Catholic Sabha's initiative. Then followed a talk on 'Catholic Sabha's role in Current Situation' by Gerald DCosta wherein he focussed on the challenges faced by Catholic Sabha in current situation. The day 1 concluded with dinner and entertainment.

Day 2 began with Holy mass offered by Rev. Fr. J.B. Crasta, Vicar Forane of Episcopal City deanery. Then followed a very useful talk on "Employment situation in our nation" by Dr. Norbert Lobo, HOD, Department of Economics, St. Aloysius College. Dr. Norbert gave in-depth details on the current situation of jobs around the world and urged parents to suitably guide their children to take up jobs in India and try goverment jobs wherever possible.

Then followed a very effective talk by Dr. Vincent Alva , Pamboor on 'How Christian leadership / associations can get public recognition ?'. He urged members not to limit their service just within church boundaries but extend it to general public wherever possible.

Then Former President of CS Mangalore Pradesh LJ Fernandes detailed about the importance of relationship the office-bearers should maintain while serving society. Political Convener of Central Committee Godwin Pinto spoke on responsibilities of various office-bearers. Mr. Sunil Gonsalves, Chartered Accountants, Mangalore gave useful tips on how to effectively maintain accounts.

The talks during the entire conference were very effective and well appreciated by the office-bearers present. There were interactive sessions at the end of each talk wherein the office-bearers got answers to their various problems / doubts.

Joint Convener of Central Resource Committee Anil Patrao compered / moderated the conference with his unique style.

The Central committee and Resource committee headed by Anil Lobo conducted valuation of the entire conference wherein office-bearers gave valuable feedback /suggestions to improve Catholic Sabha.

Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh has organised Office-bearers conference in three phases. The first phase was held on March 25 - 26, 2017 for the deaneries Episcopal City, Ciry, Mangalore South, Surathkal & Pezar. This was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha MP and founder president of Catholic Sabha Mr. Oscar Fernandes.
