Moodbidri, August 25, 2017 : Catholic Sabha Moodbidri Deanery organised Religious - Laity Get-together as part of their Silver Jubilee programmes on Friday August 25 at Moodbidri Church Hall.
Programme began with adoration of Holy Sacrament at 10.30 in the morning. Silver Jubilee Committee Convener Jerald D'Costa with an apt introductory note extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries on the dais mainly, Monsignor Edwin Pinto - Founder of Mount Rosary Charitable Institutions , Alangar ; Sr. Priscilla D' Mello - Superior General of Congregation of Helpers of Mount Rosary, V. Rev Fr Walter D'mello - the Judicial Vicar of Mangalore Diocese, Mr. George Castelino - National Award winning teacher, V. Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira - CS Moodbidri Deanery spiritual director, Anil Lobo - CS Central Committee President , Herald Rego - CS Deanery President and Melwyn DCosta - CS Deanery Immediate Past President.
Monsignor Edwin Pinto inaugurated the programme. In his message, he highlighted the situation in 1980s which forced Catholics to unite one roof to address their problems. He asked Catholic Sabha members to work selflessly for the society reflecting Christian values in their life.
One of the resource persons, V. Rev Fr Walter D'mello expalined the need of Catholic Sabha and stressed on unity among Religious and Laity to address fresh challenges arising in the current scenario.
The other resource person Mr. George Castelino, Nakre focussed on the initial days of formation of Catholic Sabha and the path travelled by it all through these years. He advised the CS members to keep them updated of latest developments.
There was a live discussion focussing challenges faced by Catholic Sabha which was moderated by V. Rev. Fr. Paul Sequiera. Fr. Paul in his message lauded the projects undertaken by Catholic Sabha in its silver jubilee year.
The Parish priests of all parish units were honoured on this occasion for their whole-hearted co-operation in ensuring success of Catholic Sabha. Vice-presidents , Superiors of religious houses were also honoured for their selfless service to the society.
CS Central Committee President Anil Lobo in his message appreciated the unique intiatives of Moodbidri Deanery in its Silver jubilee year.
CS Deanery President Herald Rego delivered presidential address and thanked all those who worked hard for the success of silver jubilee programmes.
Valerian Moras Taccode beautifully compered the programme whereas Melwyn DCosta Gantalkatte proposed vote of thanks. CS Deanery Secretary Lloyd Rego was present. Programme concluded with lunch.
Overall, the Religious - Laity get-together turned out to be an unique event, the sweet memories of which will be cherished forever.
